Our mission is simple, but not easy: help sovereign nations stay sovereign. Orion AI focuses exclusively on pre-training physical intelligence models for the middle powers.
Sovereignty starts at the foundation
When a critical model is controlled from Washington, Beijing, or another foreign capital, access can become a strategic dependency. Our premise is that a nation should be able to continue developing its intelligence through conflict, heightened tensions, or a change in a foreign provider’s priorities.
Build domestic capability
Access to a finished product is different from the ability to develop its foundation. That is an industrial lesson we bring to AI: invest in the technical base and the people who can carry it forward. A country should be able to shape its own model around its language, institutions, and priorities.
One responsibility: pre-training
Orion’s role is to build the pre-trained foundation and hand it over. National teams lead the next stages: post-training, specialization, integration, and deployment. We organize our research around the quality and independence of that starting point.
What the handover should contain
Our intended deliverable includes model weights and checkpoints, architecture and configuration, the training recipe, data provenance, evaluation evidence, and documentation for continued development. Model and data rights, external dependencies, and any restrictions must be explicit.
Make independence practical
We are designing for customer-controlled infrastructure and continued development without an ongoing Orion inference service. Owning weights is one part of sovereignty; compute, supply chains, operational expertise, and the underlying rights also matter.
